How to get rid of blackheads? My home and natural remedies

Does it happen to you that when looking at yourself in the mirror, your attention is attracted by dozens (or even hundreds) of tiny, black spots? They are on your nose, cheeks and even sometimes on forehead and chin. They can’t be removed with micellar lotion because they are located deep in skin. They are BLACKHEADS! How to get rid of them? This is what I’m going to discuss today.

Ladies,

Blackheads don’t affect only some individuals. Actually, most women have them because our skin is naturally susceptible to the impurities that surround us, and additionally our skin frequently produces too much sebum and happens to be irritated. And this is a good way to get these unwanted blackheads…

Blackheads. What’re they?

Blackheads, also known as comedones, are a type of skin condition that occurs in areas featuring a huge number of sebaceous glands outlets. Basically, this is so-called T-zone (forehead, nose and chin). This skin condition might take the form of redness, inflammation or hypersensitivity.

It’s worth realizing that we can distinguish two types of comedones:

  • open comedones, which are the black dots that we all know well;
  • closed comedones, they are tiny and fair bumps located under skin.

Common causes of comedones

Do you know what encourages blackheads and whiteheads?

The direct cause of these skin blemishes appearance are sebum deposits and keratinizing of sebaceous glands outlets. In plain English, comedones develop when skin is oily and when all impurities and dirt accumulate in its pores. In other words, a comedo is a kind of a cork made from sebum, dead skin cells and dirt that clog skin, becomes fodder for bacteria and causes irritations.

Obviously, this state doesn’t come out of nowhere. The intermediate causes of comedones development that we have no power over are:

  • adverse hormonal fluctuations,
  • excessive stress,
  • unhealthy and unbalanced diet,
  • urban pollution (e.g. smog),
  • application of ill-matching skin care products,
  • improper makeup removal and insufficient face cleansing,
  • neglecting using face scrubs.

and many other more or less serious demerits.

How to combat blackheads?

I also used to have blackheads for long, although I wouldn’t describe my skin as acne-prone. They just clung my nose and I couldn’t get rid of them! Luckily, after a few long battles fought, I succeeded in cleansing my skin and now I know how to prevent blackheads. And the solutions are numerous.

3 key rules of taking care of skin affected by blackheads:

  1. Start paying attention to what you use and how you wash your face with – run through your cosmetics in order to save only those which aren’t greasy and clean your face in a natural way without leaving the skin too dried-out.
  2.  Take to face scrubs that should be applied to your skin regularly – at least one a week exfoliate your skin; this helps you to remove impurities and dead skin cells.
  3. Balance sebaceous glands to prevent oily face – switch your face care habits into more natural ones, buy a face toner that suits your skin’s pH and remember that moisturising is crucial.

I should also add that it’s worth:

  • minimize daily makeup application;
  • follow a well-balanced diet rich in nutrients;
  • apply homemade face mask dealing with blackheads.

Remedies for blackheads

Definitely, the most effective home treatment to erase blackheads is a few-stage procedure that I carry out regularly. I always begin with a homemade face scrub or steam facial – I want to open my skin pores. When my face is finally clean and well-prepared, I follow with detoxifying and nourishing mask that I make myself. After washing it down, I wipe my face with a toner that restores the right pH to skin and leaves my skin so incredibly fresh.

Which substances will help you eliminate blackheads?

  • Green tea (an antioxidant bank)
  • Oat flakes (are really good at absorbing sebum from skin surface)
  • Egg white (works like a dressing that unclogs skin pores)
  • Medicinal clays (detoxify, cleanse and constrict skin pores)
  • Active charcoal (removes toxins and impurities)

Obviously, they aren’t all the substances which help you fight off blackheads but they are the ones which I wholeheartedly recommend you to try out. Basically, I suggest you to combine them with natural beauty oils or herbal distillates – such mixtures may appear to be highly useful too.
