Nanobrow Microblading Pen – review. The best brow pen?

best brow pen for sparse eyebrows

Hello ladies!
Today’s entry is all about a beauty product review. Recently I bought a brow pen by a brand named Nanobrow. I’ll admit that my previous experience with this type of pens weren’t too successful. I won’t point fingers at brands that have disappointed me in this aspect but I’ll say this: drugstore brow pens are awful. They didn’t work for me at all. However, Nanobrow was recommended to me by my makeup artist and she even did my makeup using it so I could see the effects for myself. This brow pen is… Exactly – what is it like? Is it a recommended brow pen? 🙂 Welcome to my review!

What is a brow pen?

Brow pens are relatively new products on the beauty market. They didn’t even exist until a few years ago! They’re inspired by a microblading technique, so, in simpler terms, a special method of tattooing eyebrows, involving making small incisions on the skin, mimicking real brow hairs and introducing pigment under the skin. This leads to eyebrows looking optically enhanced: it seems like there are more hairs in the brow arch and they’re visibly intensified. Of course, the effect lasts a few years because the procedure is semi-permanent. This is where problems start to occur – what if you happen to encounter a not-so-qualified person and the makeup ends up getting botched? You sentence yourself to a minimum of two years of nasty eyebrows! Besides, the whole process is expensive and painful. Some people can’t tolerate introducing pigments under the skin. In other words, permanent makeup might turn out to be beautiful or, unfortunately, terrible.

This is why professional makeup artists decided they want to create a product that will help makeup fans achieve a microbladed brow effect – in a safe and painless way. The makeup can be removed without difficulty using regular micellar water.

What do microblading pens look like?

There are two types of brow pens:

  • ended with a trident-shaped tip
  • ended with a tip shaped like a tiny feather, resembling a precise marker

I can tell you already that the ones with tips imitating a trident are pretty useless. They’re supposed to draw three lines at once but most often than not, the lines blend together, creating an ugly patch. The trident is hard and doesn’t let you achieve the structure and the look of real hair. Generally – I don’t recommend them. Let’s focus on the feather-like tip as it’s what Nanobrow Microblading Pen offers.

Nanobrow Microblading Pen – description, colours, quality

This brow pen looks a bit like a regular pen – you can find its case, cap and the aforementioned feathered tip that draws on the skin. I must admit that the packaging is produced very carefully. It was a nice surprise because the majority of pens look like school markers with no fine, precision tip. This is different here and if you see it for yourself then you’ll understand what maximum makeup precision means. You can draw very tiny lines as well as thick ones if you need those. All you need to do is press the pen harder against the skin. The pen is of the highest quality. The pigment has a perfect consistency and doesn’t leak during makeup which used to happen with other brow pens.

The shades of Nanobrow Microblading Pen

This brow pen is available in 5 shades. As far as brow pens are considered, this is a wide colour range so you are sure to find the right colour for you, suited to your eyebrows. Those with blonde or platinum, cool-toned hair will find their perfect shade as well! Brunettes can choose from browns and an expressive “espresso” which imitates real brow hairs excellently well! Generally, the colours are very natural and present a wonderful look.

How to use Nanobrow Microblading Pen?

You’re probably interested in how to use this pen at all. It’s nothing complicated! Simply start drawing tiny lines to enhance eyebrows visually in the places where sparse areas appear. Make sure to use short strokes to do that. You can thicken your brows altogether, too. The brow pen will be useful to fill in the gaps.

Nanobrow Microblading Pen – effects on my brows

What kind of effects can you deliver with Nanobrow Microblading Pen? It works incredibly well for me. I became skilled very quickly in doing makeup with it and now I’m able to create additional individual hairs in irregularities or on places where I went too far with my tweezers. The effect is remarkable and very natural-looking, the pen, on the other hand – long-wear and waterproof. That’s why I often only fill my patches and then go for powders (by Nanobrow, too) and accentuate eyebrows with the chosen colour. A WOW effect guaranteed!

Let me know if you’re going to try out the Nanobrow brow pen. Perhaps you knew about it for some time now and use it? Is it a recommended brow pen? Write in the comments! Bye!
