I guess I’ve tried all substances and products you can enrich a bath with. Dried fruit, herbs, bubbly bombs, oils. Still, salt and its varieties work best for me. What effects they give and how to make your own salt-based bath mixture? Find out by reading on 🙂

Bath salt: extraction & effect

A bath salt is obtained through evaporation from the mineral-rich water. Salts come from different world corners and thus have different content of minerals; their proportions differ too.

On the other hand, sea salt is extracted through evaporation of water rich in various minerals. Thanks to these ingredients, you’re able to ease off pain in the muscles and joints. What’s more, it pulls out toxic substances out of the body.

Bath salt: types and qualities

  • Pink himalayan salt keeps blood pressure on a normal level, soothes skin irritations, relieves painful joints and reduces acne breakouts.
  • Dead Sea Salt helps to treat very dry skin, pimples and psoriasis, reduces joint and rheumatic pain, clears body of toxins.
  • Epsom salt contains magnesium which helps deal with joint inflammation, digestive system ailments and excessive fatigue. Besides, it relieves muscle cramps and alleviates skin irritations.
  • Guérande salt is hand-harvested in France, abounds in potassium, zinc, calcium, iron and copper.
  • Sea salt can be either fine or coarse grain. The first one is cut out for scrubs whereas the other type works well as addition to bath.

DIY BATH SALT

  1. For a milk and salt bath, you need:
    • a cup of sea salt
    • half cup of baking soda
    • a cup of Epsom salt
    • 2 cups of powdered milk
    • 5 drops of your favorite aromatic oil

      Mix all ingredients well and add some essential oil. Put the mixture into a jar and pour a cup to your bathtub.

  2. Fragrant bath salt? Prepare:
    • 2 cups of sea salt
    • 3 cups of Epsom salt
    • a cup of baking soda
    • 4 drops of a favorite essential oil

      You need to mix all ingredients well and add a chosen essential oil. Pour the resulting mixture into a jar and close it tightly. This kind of salt is fit for use for 3 months. Pour a half cup of the mixture into the bathtub.

  3. Bath packets

    Put dried flowers and herbs into a small linen bag, add some salt and a few drops of essential oil. Tie up the bag tight and put into a tub filled with water.
