What is dry body brushing?

Dry body brushing is a treatment which improves condition of skin, body and soul. You use a brush and cosmetics tailored to your skin type. It’s like a combination of a scrub and massage yet it won’t replace them! Too bad, it’s not recommended for everyone and you’re about to check the reasons below.

How to dry brush the skin?

You must be gentle and calm. You can use more pressure on the thighs and buttocks. The first treatment might not be nice but the skin gets used to it after a few days. A brushing session should last for up to 5 minutes. Begin with the lower limbs.

Benefits of dry body brushing

There are lots of gains coming along. Here are the top ones:

  • amazing form of relaxation: it makes muscles less tight, stimulates and makes you feel relaxed;
  • smooth, firmed up skin: it adds elasticity, removes dead skin cells, has almost identical effect to a scrub;
  • clears skin and body: it removes impurities from skin and clears body of toxins by stimulating blood flow;
  • helps fight off cellulite and stretch marks: body massage helps get rid of the imperfections;
  • helps fight off ingrown hairs: hair removal will no longer pose problems.

Dry body brushing: contraindications

You mustn’t dry-brush your skin if you’ve got wounds, irritations, skin blemishes, bacterial or viral inflammation. If you’ve got couperose skin, you can do the treatment gently brushing the skin whereas people who have acne, psoriasis, scars and varix mustn’t do it. Skipping or securing the moles is essential for a safe dry-body brush session.

What kind of brush to use?

Natural, soft-bristle brushes are the most useful. Make sure your brush is good quality so that it doesn’t break while brushing and the bristles come in place. Also, don’t dry it on the radiator.
