How to wash hair correctly? My mini-guide

Hair washing, and in general making it clean, is essential in terms of health and pretty look. During this treatment, we remove dandruff, broken hair parts, sebum and other impurities that gather on scalp each day. Still, we need to know how to clean our hair and scalp correctly and thoroughly. Do you do this the right way?

Why should you clean the hair?

Hair has to be freed from sweat, sebum, dirt, mineral ions typical of hard water as well as residues of hair styling products. If the impurities create a thick layer on your scalp and hair, then it’ll be either quite challenging for you to wash the hair or you will come down with some skin disorder. Moreover, hair and scalp cleansing will be find useful when you notice that the hair care products, you’ve been using, aren’t effective any longer or when your hair doesn’t look fresh. Thanks to deep cleansing you:

  • get rid of the substances that created built-up;
  • increase hair volume;
  • make the hair ready for other beauty treatments;
  • restore balance to hair and scalp;
  • counteract greasy roots.

How to make your hair clean?

The proper hair cleansing consists of two stages:

  • rewashing – it looses the dirt bonds (shampoo doesn’t lather well);
  • the actual washing – removes all impurities from hair (shampoo lathers well).

It’s worth realizing that hair and scalp have to be cleansed as often as they need to. Therefore, keep taking a good look at your hair and decide when it’s time to wash it. It’s crucial though to do this thoroughly. Keep applying circular motions while cleansing the scalp, and when you create lather, keep running your fingers through the hair downwards.

If you want to intensify the cleansing effect, you can turn to scalp scrubs. With the aid of this hair care product, you will remove sebum, sweat, dead skin cells and dandruff. Also, you will increase blood flow in scalp and supply hair bulbs with oxygen.

What shampoo should you choose to make the hair clean?

Basically, you can use three types of shampoos: cleansing, gentle and your favorite. The first shampoo contains detergents but it lacks nourishing, regenerating and smoothing substances/agents. You should use it to wash hair that is overburdened with hair styling products. Also, if your hair is healthy, cleansing shampoo should be okay.

The second type of shampoo that I enumerated is destined for those of you who developed detergent allergy. In this case, the hair washing procedure takes a little bit more time, therefore it’s better to repeat it a few times. Use the third shampoo when both cleansing and gentle ones failed to deliver you the looked-for effects.

Post-washing hair care

Using harsh shampoos for washing may remove lipids from scalp. For that reason, you should follow with a moisturizing and regenerating mask after each hair washing. If you don’t do this, it’s highly possible that your hair becomes matte, dry and unmanageable. Last but not least, your hair might look and behave differently after being exposed to the proper cleansing for the first time.

How to remove silicones from hair?

Surprisingly, the procedure of freeing hair from silicones looks exactly the same as regular hair cleansing. The bad thing to do though is a complete withdrawal of silicone use. After all, their task is to leave hair glossy and smooth, counteract water loss, protect against damage and fill in the gaps in hair surface coat.
