Looking for an Anti-redness Serum? Here Are Your Best Bets!

Hey, Girls!

You keep asking me to give you a name of just one face serum that I can’t imagine my life without. To be completely honest with you, it’s really hard for me to pick just one product. Just like a shampoo or a hair mask, a particular face serum deals with a particular skin concern, or concerns. For example, vitamin C face serum leaves you with brighter and even-toned complexion. Retinol face serum combats the signs of aging. Anti-redness face serum soothes easily-irritated skin and erases redness. See? It’s not easy to give you a definite answer to your question. But I have an idea on how to do this.

Do I consider a face serum essential?

I know that many of you think that a face serum is a completely redundant skincare product that you can live happily without. I, personally, can’t imagine not using a face serum every day. Ever since it’s been an essential element of my daily beauty routine, the skin concerns that I used to have disappeared, or at least became reduced significantly. And this is exactly what a face serum is supposed to do:

  • make your skin look better
  • improve your skin’s defense mechanisms
  • maintain the effects

I use my face serum morning and evening, always on the cleansed face, after putting on a facial tonic. When a face serum is on my skin, I try to spread it evenly and help skin absorb it faster by doing a gentle massage, which takes literally a short while. Then, I wait until the serum penetrates skin fully, which sometimes takes longer, other times happens within a few seconds (it depends on the formula) and then apply a face cream or a natural oil.

Since there is no such thing like a do-it-all face serum, or at least I don’t know it yet, I decided I’ll give you five products that are perfect for easily-irritated skin that shows spider veins. See my top picks for couperose skin.

Nanoil, Anti-Redness Face Serum

Nanoil, Anti-Redness Face Serum

Nanoil soothing serum is my number one. I have no doubts that my skin loves this formula. But first, let me focus a bit on the “technical” stuff. The bottle is big – 1.69 fl oz, which basically means that once you buy it, you have a product that will last you for several long months. This is one of the reasons why I put the serum on twice a day, even before doing makeup because it absorbs into the skin ultra fast. When applied before going to bed, I wake up with a soothed complexion with no traces of redness. Every time I use Nanoil Anti-Redness Face Serum it reduces irritation and leaves me with a clear complexion. Over time, the appearance of spider veins was banished. Now I noticed my skin being less reactive, so I can eat spicy dishes more often, which is awesome.

That’s basically why I find Nanoil Anti-Redness Face Serum the best serum for couperose skin.

Other top soothing face serums for couperose skin that offer good quality are:

Medik8, Calmwise Serum

There are two situations when I reach for Medik8 serum: first is when I’m away, and the second is when I notice some nasty imperfection on my skin. The bottle is tiny. To me, this is a travel-size face serum and that’s exactly why I use it when I don’t sleep in my own bed. I’m not sure if using this serum every day would be okay for my pocket because one bottle doesn’t offer much product. But every drop of Calmwise Serum is saturated with everything that is good for easily-irritated skin. One of the ingredients – sage extract – strengthens weak blood vessels and soothes inflammation. It also reduces redness and deals with erythema. This is a lightweight product that absorbs into the skin pretty fast. Considering the size, I don’t apply the serum to my entire face. Instead, I use it topically.

Dr. Jart+ Cicapair, Tiger Grass Re.pair Serum

This greenish face serum from Dr. Jart+ Cicapair is perfect to be used prior to doing makeup. Naturally it doesn’t leave your face green, but it covers up facial redness. Sometimes, when the spider veins are stubborn and so widespread that even a heavy-coverage concealer isn’t enough, you need to reach for some heavy weapon. Luckily, thanks to this face serum I could say goodbye to facial redness. This is a water-based product, which basically means that it absorbs into the skin within a few seconds. If you’re looking for a serum that is also a moisturizer, then you may try to have a go at Tiger Grass Re.pair. In general, choose it when you want to erase redness and hide spider veins from your face.

La Roche-Posay, Rosaliac AR Intense

I like La Roche-Posay skincare products. They are easy-accessible almost everywhere and don’t cost much. When it comes to Rosaliac AR Intense, well, I need to start by saying that this is a gel. To my surprise it absorbs into the skin pretty well. Yet, I preferred to apply it only at bedtime just to prevent it from messing up with color cosmetics. As for the effects, I believe most of you will be satisfied. La Roche-Posay Rosaliac AR Intense soothes irritation and promotes even-toned skin. Even though it may not be perfect at dealing with the erythema, it’s pretty good at camouflaging spider veins. I’m giving it a big plus for a big size (1.40 fl oz) and an affordable price.

Origins, Mega-Mushroom Skin Relief

Despite reading mixed opinions online, I decided to give the Origins serum a try. And you know what? Let me put it this way: I didn’t like it the first time I used it. Clearly my skin had problems with absorbing Mega-Mushroom Skin Relief. For that reason I didn’t want to use it, but after a few days I decided to give this serum another chance, which eventually turned out to be a good idea. I think I had to learn how to apply it correctly. As the name suggests, this serum’s main task is to reduce inflammation and irritation. Once it does that, the serum also makes the skin resistant to aggressors, which basically makes the skin less reactive. Now I like this serum but there are two things I need to draw your attention to: one is the price, and the other is the smell that is… peculiar, to say the least.

Conclusion

As you can see, I tried to answer your question, but I did it partly. I believe those of you who struggle with easily-irritated skin that turns red whenever exposed to unfavorable weather conditions will find the right product for themselves. No matter which soothing face serum you choose, I’m sure you will feel relief. In case you know other anti-redness serums worth recommending, use the comments section.
